Latest Pickup: The Reebok Question Mid

It’s been almost 25 years, but I finally got my hands on a pair of my favorite Allen Iverson sneaker in my favorite colorway with that red suede toe. I grew up watching AI at Georgetown and loved the way he played. He also wore some dope Nike sneakers during his time there, including the greatest sneaker of all time: the Air Jordan XI “Concord.”

Things got better as my hometown Philadelphia Sixers drafted AI with the first pick in the 1996 NBA Draft. My friends and I were ecstatic, and Bubba Chuck did not disappoint us right out of the gate. A bit surprisingly, AI signed a sneaker deal with Reebok instead of Nike. I thought for sure that since Georgetown was a Nike school, and he was rocking Jordans there, he’d sign with them.

In the end, it didn’t matter too much at first, because Iverson’s first signature sneaker, the Question, was an instant hit. You can see some obvious similarities to the Air Jordan XI that he wore a year earlier, with the icy sole and flowing lines on the upper. We didn’t care all that much though – Iverson was killing it in them. I remember a lot of kids had them of course – both the red tips and the blue tips his first year.

The Question would go on to be Iverson’s most popular model. I remember Reebok dropping new colorway after new colorway year after year. People kept buying them, so Reebok kept making them. I’ve been a Nike guy most of my life, but a few months ago when I saw the OG colorway was making a return, I knew I had to pull the trigger.

It’s a great feeling to relive some of the memories AI made wearing this amazing sneaker. To have them in hand makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.
