Unboxing The New Kyrie 7 Sisterhood

Kyrie 7, Sisterhood, basketball sneaker, Nike

If you’re a Kyrie fan, I think you’re going to love the new Kyrie 7 Sisterhood. I recently picked up the brand new “Sisterhood” colorway, and was pleasantly surprised with the latest basketball model for Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving.

Design of the Kyrie 7 Sisterhood

Designed by Ben Nethongkome, the Kyrie 7 takes elements from previous models and builds on them for one of the best-fitting Kyrie models yet. Nethongkome’s first Kyrie design was the 4, followed by the 5, 6, Kybrid, and now the 7. Right off the bat, I was drawn in by the creativity of the box. “The box was a bunch of ideas/sketches/inspo that was used throughout the creation,” explained Nethongkome. “It’s a mood board for the 7 that was curated by our Graphic Designer Greg.”

I was also drawn to the logos on the back, which are only found on the “Sisterhood” colorway. “We haven’t used these logos prior to the 7,” said Nethongkome. “It’s the first time that we used it on his signature line. Many times, you will see the sun and moon together as one. A circle involving half moon and a half sun. The sun is usually associated with strength, rebirth and power, while the moon is representative of the feminine, and many times in the form of a goddess.”

What I Like About the Kyrie 7 Sisterhood

The second I picked up the box, I could tell these were light. Previous Kyrie models have implemented some cool elements like shroud covers and a super-thick/durable outsole, and these areas were all improved upon to incorporate a super-speedy track sneaker for the basketball court. Aside from the light weight, I love that the Kyrie 7 features an articulated Air Zoom Turbo unit in the forefoot, which is responsive for quick cuts to the basket.

What Else You Should Know

Like previous models, the Kyrie 7 runs small. I am typically a size 11, which is the size I have, and immediately felt they were snug when I put them on. If you plan on copping, you may want to consider sizing up (unless you are used to this issue already and have sized up in the past). For a comparison, I’m typically a size 11 in an Air Jordan model, but would need a size 11.5 in a Kyrie 7.

For just $130, the Kyrie 7 is a high-quality basketball sneaker designed for guards and small forwards, and is definitely worth checking out.

The “Sisterhood” Kyrie 7 is available now.
