As temperatures in New Jersey soar into the 90s on a daily basis, I’ve tucked away my boots in their boxes until things cool down a bit. Whenever I head out of the house, I still like to wear denim and pair them with my primary boot substitute: the Birkenstock Boston.
How I Found My Favorite Mens Birkenstock Clogs
About 6 years ago, I was checking out the sales section at the Urban Outfitters in Herald Square and found a ton of mens Birkenstock clogs on sale. I laughed as I opened some of the boxes and recalled my first pair of Birks – the Arizona sandal. Birkenstocks were super popular when I was in high school back in the late ’90s. I wore my pair of Arizona’s for several years until they virtually fell apart. Those Birks were perfect because you could wear them all summer, and then throw on some wool socks with them well into the fall.
For about 10-15 years, Birks were no longer cool. But when I saw those Bostons sitting in Urban Outfitters for just $35, picking up a new pair was a no-brainer. At first, my friends laughed at me when I wore them. “Why are you wearing Birks, dude?”
Then I started seeing more and more people rocking them. 6 years later, everyone has a pair of Birks again. Plus they’ve come out with a ton of new styles and collabs with other brands. For me, I love the Boston because it looks somewhat like a boot when worn with denim, yet is much lighter and easy to slip on and off. I take zero credit for believing mens Birkenstock clogs would come back, but I’m definitely glad I grabbed that pair for $35!
